American Violin by Raphael Unser

New York, 1927

Raphael Unser lived and worked in Brooklyn, New York. He was also known as a fine cabinet (furniture) maker. Many of the old master makers started out as cabinet makers. This violin was made in 1927. The one-piece back is especially handsome, featuring a striking medium flame, descending from left to right. The violin is varnished in a trasparent golden-amber color. The tone is mellow, deep and even across the entire range.

We acquired this violin some time ago at a good price and have just set it up. In today’s market this violin should sell for six thousand dollars. We are offering it at $3380 in hope of matching it to a good and worthy player.
